5 Rules of Sanity in a world on fire

TL;DR If you're thinking: 'WHAT THE F* HAPPENED TO 2025?', you're not alone. If you’re a climate communicator, an activist or just a human trying to make sense of it all, it’s easy to feel consumed by the chaos. This blog goes out to anyone who needs a mental reset—including myself.

We'll take a look at how we can find back our peace and calm. Anxiety can be overwhelming, but that doesn't mean there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

2025: A year of flooding the zone

Literally and figuratively. Climate denial. USA. Palestine. Congo. Political division. The news cycle spins faster than we can keep up. The truth is, that’s the point.

This strategy of “flooding the zone” is used by governments, corporations & media all over the world. It doesn’t silence you directly. Instead, it overwhelms you with so much noise that you lose your focus, your energy and a general sense of direction.

You become... exhausted.
You become... cynical.
You become... paralyzed.

It happened to me too the past weeks. And that’s when the people benefiting from inaction win. But… we don’t have to let that happen.👇

For anyone feeling stuck

Here’s how I’m staying grounded in between the madness (repeat after me🧘):

1. I refuse to let outrage dictate my energy.

If I’m outraged by everything, I’ll be effective at nothing. Not every crisis needs my immediate reaction, but my mission with Creators For Climate needs my ongoing energy.

2. I remind myself daily why I do this.

Journaling, scribbling down notes, white boarding… whatever keeps me anchored that day. A simple question to prompt your mind:
“What is mine to carry, and what is distraction?”

3. I see obstacles as fuel.

Yes, people will deny climate science. Yes, corporations will greenwash. Yes, the world will feel like it’s falling apart. But every challenge is an opportunity to sharpen my message and to keep building positive momentum.

4. I protect my mind.

I don’t need to consume every news update. I don’t need to argue with every person who disagrees. I don’t need to let the world's chaos become my own.

5. I understand that I’m a flawed human being

Even though I try to remind myself of these “rules of sanity”, I also know I’ll fail. I’ll let a TikTok session turn into a doomscroll. I’ll read the headlines, start researching and chase my triggers. But I know that once I’ve gone through the tunnel of anxiety, I’ll be back in control.

✨This too shall pass✨

We don't have the luxury of inaction

The world is a mess. It has been, to some degree, for every generation that came before. But that doesn’t mean we have to be too.

If you’re doing the work, whether it’s climate advocacy, social justice or any mission-driven effort, don’t let the storm pull you under.

For some an entry like this will feel fluffy and out of touch, others might relate on a deeper emotional level. However your mind works, I just want to leave you with this:

Stay focused. Stay clear. Keep going. Because when we burn out, they win. And we don’t have that luxury.
